After awhile Windows 8 keeps logging me out. then I have to click then re-enter my password every time.
How can I disable this?
I only have one user account and will not have any others.

I have already checked my settings in controls: they are not being followed by the system.
My understanding is that each time I am asked to login it is because the system has been in sleep mode, correct? Further, the display time is not following my selections made in controls.
I also tried restarting my PC to see if the new settings would take effect (though some I had not needed to change (like "never" send PC to sleep while charging).
The link provided in method one hasn't given any new information that is useful.
When I follow method 2; I don't have an option in the charms bar itself to search unless it's searching through my browser (google). When I select "change PC settings" at the bottom of this charms bar, I am taken to a menu also does not allow me to search.
I have tried searching the control panel as well for "troublshooting" and "power trouble shooting"
So my question is: how can I actually find troubleshooting.
Lastly, what is next if that isn't working
I have this same problem, and have done some research on it. I think that there are a couple different things going on here.
I have both Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8 RT on a PC and a Surface, but they are both standard issue versions. I do not have the "Reset User Policy" option on either machine. I do not think that that option migrated from the development version over to the commercial version. But, I could be wrong.
One thing that I did discover is that, even if you have all the settings to disable passwords (and the lock screen) set correctly, there may be a specific security policy overriding your local policy.
For example, I noticed the problem started occurring when I added my work email account to both the PC and the Surface (it actually replicated from one to the other due to syncing). My work email is through a secure Exchange server.
On a hint from a friend, I removed my work email account from the PC, but left it on the Surface. Since then, the password requirement does not appear on the PC, but it still does on the Surface.
So, if you do something to your PC or Surface, and you get a dialog box telling you that more secure settings are necessary, and you accept that, then you are saying that a password is necessary to protect those secure resources, and this seems to override your group policies.
I wish this would be fixed because both of my machines are secure in that they never go anywhere, and I find this quite annoying.

Having the same problem as the rest. I'm in User Accounts, but don't see any link that says "reset security policies."
Also, this just started happening today. I think I've had to log in about 18 times. It's never been a problem before.
Same problem but when I go to Control Panel/User Accounts/ *** I don't see where I can change/reset security policies - any ideas? thanks
