That "tall futuristic looking building" is the Seattle Space Needle
just read most of the problems and the same thing happened to me today and this is how I repaired it,,,,,,its still not logging out at the moment.
control panel-user accounts-make changes to my account in pc settings.
scroll to ......sync your settings.. passwords (this was turned on) I turned it off and I haven't been logged out yet, so far so good.
the only thing that I changed today was that I created a homegroup on the wireless laptop to sync with hardwired rj45 connector to router on desktop. I normally create the homegroup on the desk top and join via the laptop.
anyways,,,, still not logging out, hope it works for other users.
Yeah, I don't think it will ever be fully allowed to not have to enter a password. I can't follow your path, Mick, but it doesn't matter anyway. I noticed between Windows 8 and 8.1, the checkbox about needing a password or not has been removed from "netplwiz"
By process of elimination, I believe the ability to not need to enter a password every 10 minutes depends on whether you have an Exchange email account on your system or not. I have three different email accounts on my system, but for some reason, even though I am okay with not needing a password, the Exchange account requires my system to log out every 10 minutes.
