How do I keep Windows 8 from logging me out all the time?

This post it's a little bit older but in case someone still looking for this, here is the answer.

in the search box, top right of your screen click on setting and type CHANGE SCREEN SAVING

the screen saver setting windows will pop up,it is very easy just UNCHECK THE BOX NEXT TO ON RESUME, DISPLAY LOG-ON SCREEN and click apply or ok and it should be good..

This just started yesterday for me. It logs me out even when I am in the middle of doing something and now it does it every 10 mins. It's crazy and all the "repairs" and "recovery" that Windoes does for me does nothing to change this.

I found that the problem was that I had a secure resource installed on my Surface.  In my case, it was access to my work's email.  I have a friend who has a Surface and he confirmed it by removing his work email, testing it, and then putting his work email back onto his Surface.

The basic logic is that if you have a secure resource installed, you will get a confirmation message saying that the security settings have been changed on your computer.  This overrides all other settings.

At this time, the only option is to uninstall or remove that secure resource.

I followed those steps, but unfortunately the little "On resume" box was already unchecked. I must be getting logged off for another reason.

Is that option just unchecked, or is that whole box grayed out and not clickable?

If "On resume, display logon screen" option under Screen saver Settings is grayed out... do this to enable it again:

1. Start Regedit
2. Navigate to:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop]

and delete the "ScreenSaverIsSecure" value.
