How do I keep Windows 8 from logging me out all the time?

Basically when I leave the computer alone for awhile, it logs me out of Windows 8. The screen goes back to the opening title screen with a sun in the upper left corner and a tall futuristic looking building on the right side with a landscape scene behind it. You have to press a key or click the mouse button to dismiss that screen. When you do you are taken to the log in prompt for my username and password.

I'd like it if it did not log me out every once in a while like it does.

I went into settings and told the computer to never turn off the monitor and the hard drives. I think that is the only setting that is related that I can think I have changed.

I am using a desktop computer by the way.

Go to your Control Panel and search Power.  Click Change when Computer Sleeps and turn the time up form there.  Go into Personalize/Change Screen Saver and set the time to what you want.  Click OK for the Screen Saver and Save Settings for the Sleep page.  See if this doesn't fix your problem.

No it doesn't. If you had read the entire thread you will see you are like the 50th person to suggest that and as we keep stating sleep is turned off and screen saver is turned off. Even the post you directly replied to said that.

d. Click on Power troubleshooter to run the troubleshooter.

Vijay, you totally misunderstood or didn't read the question thoroughly. He didn't say when "he" logged out, he said "WINDOWS 8" was logging him out. This has to be a setting in windows 8 that after a set period of time of inactivity it (windows 8) logs off on it's own.

So is there a way to either disable this, or at least lengthen the time before windows logs off.
