Windows 8 Login Screen - Mouse/Keyboard Stop Working

I tried Toms power trick and it still don't solve my problem.

The only cure I have found so far for when the problem happens it to uninstall all the devices that have alerts in device manager and then doing a hardware scan to detect new devices.

To do this though you have to do a remote desktop from another PC because obviously the keyboard and mouse don't work :-)

Does anyone know of a way to automate what I am doing? like a script on bootup which will uninstall devices and scan for new devices?

Yes, using DevCon utility... I solved it that way

Create a scheduled task to restart the defined device (PCI...) with the devcon.exe at every log in event. (The in-built Task Scheduer was the only way to use the devcon.exe with elevated mode, without UAC message).

i.e: C:\devcon.exe restart "@PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C26&SUBSYS_04A91028&REV_04\3&11583659&0&E8"

hint: 

• devcon.exe for 64-bit system on the official MS site is wrong, thats for IA64...google for the x64/AMD64 version!
• for device id -> Control Panel / Device Manager /USB controllers/...1C26 /Properties/Details/Hardware ids

Hi,

I have the same problem, the keyboard stop working for a second or two and then start  again, with the mouse the problem is that when opening a quick menu or drop menu with the mouse it shuts after a seconds, some times 2 or 3 seconds sometimes 5 to 6 seconds.

I tried to run the PC in Safe Mode and was able to use everything with out problems.

The problem not present in Safe Mode.

What should I do now?

I have the same problem with New computer with windows 8.....  keyboard stops working... sometimes when I shut down and restart, it fixes itself.  Thought it might be the laptop, but I see here it's probably a win 8 issue....   errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
