My windows 8 is randomly logging off on its own, bug?

This is really frustrating. It's happened twice now, in the past 24 hours. I'm just doing my work, and suddenly the screen goes black for 2 seconds, flashing black, then goes to the 'metro' screen saver screen, where you start when you first boot the computer on. so it appears that it is logging off. I log back on, and a FEW of my open programs (skype, dropbox, few others) are still there, but most of my programs (wordpad, browser) simply terminated and I have to start them again, restore chrome session, lose work that I didn't save in WordPad, ETC.

Windows 8 Pro here.

Please help, it would be good to get to the bottom of this. 99% sure it's no virus, I'm careful and an experienced computer user and have MSE monitoring things so it can't be a virus.

    I have the same issue but I have windows IE and well numerous tabs and it gets to the point where some websites just have tons of advs loading and it slows everything down.  I am connected to a dock to two monitors and on occasions when using IE  or applications one of the screen goes black and then comes back like nothing has happened and other times both screen flicker off to on or it seems that way.  And other times when there is heavy usage I believe from  IE then the screen goes black and for at least 30 seconds and right there I know it automatically logs me out of my session and WIndows does not allow me to save anything. Right now MY fan is only or it may be from the GPU which I think there issue is. Other times I had the driver for the video card crash and well then there are pixels on my screen which are not well defined.

    I am using a M4500 With Windows 8.0 and M1800 Nvidia GPU and with 16GB Ram.

    Last year or earlier in the year this was not an issue but I believe the drivers and WIndows * is not really compatible. I also use SoldiWorks 2014.

    This is irritating and especially the IE issues OMG  terrible Browser!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I continue to experience this extremely frustrating issue and am considering going back to Windows 7 or to something other than Windows. What's it going to take for you to fix this, Microsoft? Do we have to get TechCrunch or Ars Technica to write an article about it?

    Now, that's just nonsense.

    Any malware running on your system will have just the same privileges as the user account it's running under.

    Full disk encryption would not make any difference.

    A non mounted file container would, however, be safe(er)though available in its encrypted state, accessible for decryption attempts.

    Please stop hijacking the thread with encryption disinformation. Stick to the topic.
