Cisco-Linksys USB300M listed as compatible with Windows RT, but is not.

Based on this device being listed as compatible with Windows RT on the Windows Compatibility Center site, I purchased this USB Ethernet adapter.

The Surface shows it as a AX88x72A device in "Other devices" in the Device Manager.  There does not appear to be a driver available for it on the system or within Windows Update.

Can we get a list of actual, working USB Ethernet adapters for the Surface?

I got the drivers off this page to work without issue.

Downloaded the drivers, unzipped them.  Went into computer management, device manager.  Updated the drivers from there and pointed it to the downloaded drivers.

    Hi Roland,

    I just received the same Ethernet adapter based on the recommendation from the Microsoft site. I;m frustrated too, but I was curious if you've decided to purchase a different one and did it work for you? I also went back to the compatibility site and made sure to check that this device did not work for me. I recommend that you do the same, so we can help others from falling into this trap. If you haven't found one that works, I'll let you know if I find something too.

    Cisco hasn't updated that driver package since 2003.

    I bought the device based on the fact that it was listed as compatible on the Microsoft-controlled Windows Compatibility Center site.

    Please either update the site to show what's actually compatible or release a driver that works in WinRT.

    Rohit, that's a terrible answer. If you'd taken the time to follow that link, you'd see the posted driver set for that device is from 2003! How could that possibly have a Windows RT driver.

    This is a good question, because if I could get a USB Ethernet adapter for my Surface, I could leave my ThinkPad at home. I'm very interested in a compatible USB Ethernet adapter for the Surface and Windows RT. The Windows Hardware Compatability list for Windows RT seems massively overstated, and there aren't RT drivers available anywhere.
