"COM Surrogate has stopped working"

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 on it.  Whenever I go to print from the internet, the message "COM Surrogate has stopped working" comes up.  It only happens when I try to print.  Any help on this?

This message only comes up when I am trying to print from the internet.  I can print from all my other programs.  I have not seen this message anywhere else yet.  Also, I noticed that all the answers I could find refer to Vista....I am Windows 7.  Thank you

Hi,

1)   Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?

2)   What kind of browser are you using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, chrome etc…)?

3)   What is the make and model of the printer?

Follow the below mentioned steps which may help you in fixing the issue.

a)    Click Start

b)   Right click on Computer, and select Properties.

c)    Click on Advanced System Settings, click the Advanced Tab

d)   In the Performance section, click Settings

e)    Select the "Data Execution Protection" tab, and then click the 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select' option.

**f)**Click the Add button, and then browse to C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exe

g)   Click open, click OK on the warning message.

**h)**Click Apply/OK.

Check if the issue still persists.

Hi,

I was able to resolve the issue by rolling back to the previous Intel display driver. Not an optimal solution, but it resolves the annoying "COM Surrogate" error until Intel can fix the bug in their driver. Hope this helps.

    Same Com surrogate error with picture viewer on Windows 7 pro 64 after update intel HD.

    What are doing microsoft ? I lost my time.

    i was having the same com surrogate while browsing photos in windows 7 home premium 64 bit. It was caused by intel HD graphics 3000 driver update during windows update. Rolled back the driver and it is working fine now. thanks

    I Had the same problem with the Intel driver and using Windows Photo viewer on my x64 Intel system with a i3 2120 processor . I removed the Intel Graphics software (With add and Remove programs) and abused Windows Photo Viewer. The only thing what happened was that it still worked as advertised and there is no longer a Com Surrogate message. I hope Intel ore Microsoft will find out what the real trouble is. On the other hand it seems that the Intel graphics driver is there for … Win 7 runs perfectly also with video and other programs.
