"COM Surrogate has stopped working"

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 on it.  Whenever I go to print from the internet, the message "COM Surrogate has stopped working" comes up.  It only happens when I try to print.  Any help on this?

This message only comes up when I am trying to print from the internet.  I can print from all my other programs.  I have not seen this message anywhere else yet.  Also, I noticed that all the answers I could find refer to Vista....I am Windows 7.  Thank you

Hi,

1)   Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?

2)   What kind of browser are you using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, chrome etc…)?

3)   What is the make and model of the printer?

Follow the below mentioned steps which may help you in fixing the issue.

a)    Click Start

b)   Right click on Computer, and select Properties.

c)    Click on Advanced System Settings, click the Advanced Tab

d)   In the Performance section, click Settings

e)    Select the "Data Execution Protection" tab, and then click the 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select' option.

**f)**Click the Add button, and then browse to C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exe

g)   Click open, click OK on the warning message.

**h)**Click Apply/OK.

Check if the issue still persists.

Hi,

I was able to resolve the issue by rolling back to the previous Intel display driver. Not an optimal solution, but it resolves the annoying "COM Surrogate" error until Intel can fix the bug in their driver. Hope this helps.

    I had the same problem,

    All i did was uninstall the HD Graphics Driver, then reinstalled it through Device Manager > Display Adaptors > *Name of the Graphics*

    Right click graphics name, then "Update Driver Software..". Follow the steps, it should then reinstall the driver.

    I tried the whole

    Data execution prevention approach but:

    chosing:

    C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exeit says:"You can not set DEP attributes on 64-bit executables."So... for Win 64 bit versions, this doesn't seem to work. Oh well, now what?

    f) Click the Add button, and then browse to C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exe

    I could not add that version.  I went to c:\windows\sysWOW64\dllhost.exe and was able to add it with all the warnings that came along.

    It is requiring a restart and I hope it takes care of the issue.

    I have a PC with Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center 64-bit
