"COM Surrogate has stopped working"

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 on it.  Whenever I go to print from the internet, the message "COM Surrogate has stopped working" comes up.  It only happens when I try to print.  Any help on this?

This message only comes up when I am trying to print from the internet.  I can print from all my other programs.  I have not seen this message anywhere else yet.  Also, I noticed that all the answers I could find refer to Vista....I am Windows 7.  Thank you

Hi,

1)   Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?

2)   What kind of browser are you using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, chrome etc…)?

3)   What is the make and model of the printer?

Follow the below mentioned steps which may help you in fixing the issue.

a)    Click Start

b)   Right click on Computer, and select Properties.

c)    Click on Advanced System Settings, click the Advanced Tab

d)   In the Performance section, click Settings

e)    Select the "Data Execution Protection" tab, and then click the 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select' option.

**f)**Click the Add button, and then browse to C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exe

g)   Click open, click OK on the warning message.

**h)**Click Apply/OK.

Check if the issue still persists.

Hi,

I was able to resolve the issue by rolling back to the previous Intel display driver. Not an optimal solution, but it resolves the annoying "COM Surrogate" error until Intel can fix the bug in their driver. Hope this helps.

    I've got the same error message except I am browsing through photos off my hard drive.

    I'm running Windows 7 Professional and it has been fine for about a year then suddenly last week it keeps throwing up this message and shuts the picture viewer down.

    I have already tried what you suggested above with no improvement

    Anymore Ideas??

    Could it be to do with a recent update??

    Nothing in my hardware has changed and I have not installed any software of late

    Just found out some more information that might be helpful

    I went to the action centre and found my problem is being caused by

    igdumd64.dll, does this help???

    What does this mean??

    I've got the same problem. When I'm looking at photos with the Windows photo viewer, occasionally that "Com Surrogate" error will pop up. I noticed this for the first time this past weekend (I've never seen this error in the past) so - like you - I was also wondering if this could be the result of a bug in a recent Windows update.
