"COM Surrogate has stopped working"

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 on it.  Whenever I go to print from the internet, the message "COM Surrogate has stopped working" comes up.  It only happens when I try to print.  Any help on this?

This message only comes up when I am trying to print from the internet.  I can print from all my other programs.  I have not seen this message anywhere else yet.  Also, I noticed that all the answers I could find refer to Vista....I am Windows 7.  Thank you

Hi,

1)   Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?

2)   What kind of browser are you using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, chrome etc…)?

3)   What is the make and model of the printer?

Follow the below mentioned steps which may help you in fixing the issue.

a)    Click Start

b)   Right click on Computer, and select Properties.

c)    Click on Advanced System Settings, click the Advanced Tab

d)   In the Performance section, click Settings

e)    Select the "Data Execution Protection" tab, and then click the 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select' option.

**f)**Click the Add button, and then browse to C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exe

g)   Click open, click OK on the warning message.

**h)**Click Apply/OK.

Check if the issue still persists.

Hi,

I was able to resolve the issue by rolling back to the previous Intel display driver. Not an optimal solution, but it resolves the annoying "COM Surrogate" error until Intel can fix the bug in their driver. Hope this helps.

    Update - I went through the download center for Intel as well and upgraded the driver.  There was no update through windows updater, I had to go to the intel site.  http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx?lang=eng

    Select Graphics, then Laptop, then the hardware you have (I have the 4000).

    Seems to have worked.  Will post back if it begins to happen again!

    This worked for me too!  Photos would cause the COM Surrogate error msg when browsing fast.  This is new hp computer.  Surprised that none of the windows or intel auto driver updates fixed this.  Thanks!! Rich

    Thanks Steve,

    I had the same problem with my new Acer  Aspire V3.    I updated to the latest Intel HD Graphics 3000 Driver   15.26.12.64.2761 (8.15.10.2761)  and the problem is fixed.   Finally, been chasing this for a week.
