"COM Surrogate has stopped working"

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 on it.  Whenever I go to print from the internet, the message "COM Surrogate has stopped working" comes up.  It only happens when I try to print.  Any help on this?

This message only comes up when I am trying to print from the internet.  I can print from all my other programs.  I have not seen this message anywhere else yet.  Also, I noticed that all the answers I could find refer to Vista....I am Windows 7.  Thank you

Hi,

1)   Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?

2)   What kind of browser are you using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, chrome etc…)?

3)   What is the make and model of the printer?

Follow the below mentioned steps which may help you in fixing the issue.

a)    Click Start

b)   Right click on Computer, and select Properties.

c)    Click on Advanced System Settings, click the Advanced Tab

d)   In the Performance section, click Settings

e)    Select the "Data Execution Protection" tab, and then click the 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select' option.

**f)**Click the Add button, and then browse to C:\Windows\System32\dllhost.exe

g)   Click open, click OK on the warning message.

**h)**Click Apply/OK.

Check if the issue still persists.

Hi,

I was able to resolve the issue by rolling back to the previous Intel display driver. Not an optimal solution, but it resolves the annoying "COM Surrogate" error until Intel can fix the bug in their driver. Hope this helps.

    Gokul T  replied a solution and it works on me.

    1. Click Start, type cmd, right-click and selectRun as administrator.
    2. Run the following commands:

    regsvr32 vbscript.dll regsvr32 jscript.dll

    Thanks, will look for that.

    I had to go back to windows 8.1 again. system recovery to 8 and removing a old memory card fixed the problem but then my camera and other things did not work.

    So now I am back to 8.1 and everything works.

    I took a old windows 7 memory card out of the computer. Don't want to blame Microsoft when this could have been the problem.

    8.1 upgrade this time maybe did not install something in the updates (143 of them) so the com surrogate did not get installed.

     SO FAR has solved the problem.

    There is a optional update I have not allowed to update; AMD storage controller SATA. ?

    I tried EVERYTHING here and i still had the issue (Win8 x64).

    but i found it!

    Uninstalled Acronis True Image Home

    and it's disappeared :)  

    Hope this helps someone - it seems to be a real issue with any version of ATIH.
