Hello,
When I try to launch Windows Movie Maker, I get “Error code: c945000e Sorry, Movie Maker can't start …” What can I do to fix this?

An update to Movie Maker 2012 was just released today. It lowers the hardware requirements back to DirectX 9, so you might see if you can run it. There are more details in the pinned post. The version number is 16.4.3504.0912. The details are also at the beginning of this (now very long) post.
So if you had DirectX 9 hardware that worked for WLMM 2011, give Movie Maker 2012 a go again.

Here's what's happening:
1)
Movie Maker makes heavy use of video and graphics acceleration capabilities provided by a computer's video card to decode and encode video files and render effects, transitions and text. Sometimes video card drivers (the software that allows Windows and Movie Maker to interact with the video card) have issues that prevent Movie Maker from working correctly.
The following video cards and corresponding driver versions below have been identified as having issues that prevent Movie Maker 2011 and Movie Maker 2012 from working correctly. Movie Maker will not start with the following video cards and driver combinations.
To resolve the issue, install the latest video card driver version.

If you are running on DirectX 9 hardware, please ensure that you have installed the Windows Update for DirectX 9 support available at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2741355, and that you are running the latest version of Windows Movie Maker 2012.
To verify that you have the latest version of Windows Movie Maker 2012, please do the following:
1. In Movie Maker, press Alt + F on your keyboard to open the File menu
2. Select About Movie Maker.
3. Verify that the version number is 16.4.3505.0912.

i can not open movie maker program
I have solved the problem. The steps that BobbyMi provided were actually helpful, even if the links were outdated.
I had continuously blamed the NVIDIA Graphics Card Drivers for this mayhem - the actual problem was that I also have an Intel HD Graphics Card (2nd Generation, 3000). The driver for that Graphics Card needed updating, so I did using this package. I found it useful, now Movie Maker works completely. I am not sure why I have two Graphics Cards, but I won't complain. Thank you for your support. I can now continue using Movie Maker!
I have a Dell XPS 17 (L720X) running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Service Pack 1. I have an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2620M CPU with 2.7GHz of processing speed. I have 4GB of Ram. I have a GeForce GT 550M. I have been able to run Movie Maker 2011 perfectly well in the past (last time I used it was May 2012). When I returned, I found that Movie Maker no longer worked for me. I currently have Movie Maker 2012 installed together with the rest of the Live Essentials.
I have updated my GeForce drivers, my current driver is the GeForce R331 Game Ready Driver (Version 331.82, released 19/11/2013) which was updated together with the GeForce Experience (the driver and game setting manager). It appears that I also have the NVIDIA Driver 9.18.13.3182.
From the Device Manager I also see that I have an Intel(R) HD Graphics Family Adapter. I have scanned for updates through the Device Manager and it has determined that I am up-to-date. Therefore it seems I have two Graphics cards - one from Intel and one fron NVIDIA.
I have the Windows Update for DirectX 9 support. I downloaded the x64 version but it told me I already had this updated, then I tried the x86 version but my computer did not support that.
I have installed, re-installed and repaired the Windows Live Essentials through the Control Panel so I presume I must be running the latest version. However, I cannot check this. When I open Movie Maker, I only get the dialogue box saying I cannot open Movie Maker because I don't fit the system requirements. I cannot reach Movie Maker itself.
DxDiag says I have a DirectX version 11 and it lists that I am using the Intel(R) HD Graphics Family graphics card. The "Main Driver" is igdumd64.dll, igd10umd64.dll and more. The Version is 8.15.10.2321 and the DDI Version is 10.1. The Driver Model, should you be interested, is WDDM 1.1.
8.15.10.2321 is the Blocked Driver version which needs updating! The problem is that the link in the post is outdated. An attempt to update in the Device Manager told me that the driver is up to date, the Intel(R) Driver Update Utility also tells me that it is up to date. The problem with the Intel(R) Driver Update Utility is that it only recognises the NVIDIA Driver - and I have two drivers!
Simply put, I need help finding the driver for my computer. If anyone knows a great starting point, please share.
