“Error code: c945000e Sorry, Movie Maker can't start …” when I start Movie Maker

Thanks for listing the details for your system and graphics adapter. According to the info you provided, your currently installed Intel HD Graphics driver version is 8.15.10.2253 which is known to have issues with Movie Maker.

I found a recommended Intel HD Graphics driver update From Dell for your Dell Inspiron N7110 notebook that should resolve the issue for Movie Maker 2011 and 2012:

Driver version 8.15.10.2455 for Windows 7, 64-bit:

In the meantime, you might check the Intel site to see if the latest HD Graphics drivers are compatible and/or work -  8.15.10.2622 - with your Dell Laptop Inspiron N7110

And note, a later driver may not provide any additonal support than the one you have. (i.e. it is unlikely that it includes any resolution for Movie Maker 12 or 11)

Apparently I read it as written ...a suggestion to another to upgrade to Windows 8 regardless of what may have worked for you.

I do agree that Win8 may work for others but not necessarily everyone. Additionally there are some cases where updated drivers may work (for this issue) on Win7 but not on Win8 since Win8 may not allow a downloadable/install driver upgrade in lieu of its provided driver.

As noted earlier imo the Win8 'works' is tied to how MM12 is coded to look (and where) for necessary requirements, obtain that information and the differences in what Windows 8 brings to the table (DXGI)....but upgrading to Win8 for hardware related compatibilty issues are not much different than putting a new sweater on a dog....it's still the same dog under the hood with the same abilities.
