Is Itunes compatible with Windows 8

Hi everyone !

I am trying to find out if the current version of Apple Itunes is fully compatible with Windows 8 ?

I have done some research and I seem to be understanding that Apple has not updated its software to fit into the new system & there are some issues surfacing about compatibility. I am about to instal Windows 8 but I must have Itunes working perfectly with the new system as I am a devoted Apple supporter with Ipad, Ipod, Iphone etc. I know that Microsoft wants us to change to their own music system but like many people I will not change as I love my Apple products and Itunes.

Can anyone please give me some guidance. I am in Australia and Windows 8 has officially launched.

Thanks : Allan

I will NOT downgrade to Microsoft 8; my excellent IT guy from CMU, where I teach says it is worse than millennium and that it will go away soon, like all their previous worthless OSs. I use iTunes everyday, and they tell me "it may work, but it will be buggy . . ."

I have a good firewall and McAfee virus/malware protection, so I do not care if I get anymore updates from Microsoft. Everything they have produced in the last ten years sucks anyway. I have Mac G4s and a Mac power pro laptop; thye work great, and do not force feed updates., I just use this one desktop PC as it is more compatible with my work software that I use daily, and Word for Mac does not work as well as Word on a PC.    So it goes :( If I have problems with sticking with XP, I will just through this Microsuck computer away and use my Macs.

    Greetings Allen,

I had trouble with iTunes as soon as I got windows 8. Each software manufacturer blames the other for updating their product before it was compatible with others. I could not connect to the iTunes store to buy music, or anything else. I tried many things suggested in this site, copying and pasting files from one spot to another. I finally called apple. They said you must uninstall all apple software in a particular sequence, then reinstall it to get things to functions properly. I can't recall what the sequence is, but I saved the link for apple help, and have pasted it below. I did it once, must not have done it right, did it again and haven't had trouble since. I was told my machine already saved all my purchased music so I didn't lose anything. I saved each song list manually to the file folder looking icon on the bottom left of your screen, under music in 'My PC'. I didn't lose a thing.

Here's the link. You said you're an Aussie? Good Luck Mate!

    HI,

I have no issues with running or installation of iTunes 11.1.4 on Win 8/IE10.  The issue is the ipod nano series 5 will not sync.  I am full admin on PC, iTunes recognizes the device, the computer does not, it will not allow a copy and paste and it does no know what to do with the device when plugged in for syncing.

Granted, it is at least 5 years old, but the configuration of the ipod should have nothing to do with a sync process since it worked with Win XP and Win 7 with no issues.

    Kia
