I had the same problem of my wifi showing limited everytime I connect. After searching in internet for 2 hours and trying various options like netsh reset, disable\enable, network discovery on, power saver change mode, tcip reset, ip config manual, metered download enable etc. nothing worked!

But then I thought to reinstall my WLAN driver. In my case, my lenovo laptop had drivers in the path D:\drivers\WLAN. I launched the setup and reinstalled and hurrah I am able to connect without any problem now!!!

What a joke! Sitting here, staring at my Windows 8.1 machine with the same "Limited" message while my iPad and MacBook Air have zero problems connecting. Typical MS. Have to use it for work. HATE it. Total junk.

    Hi,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

    1. Are all the device drivers and Windows updates are updated?
    2. Which type of internet connection are you using? Is that wireless or wired?
    3. If the connection is wireless then have you tried to connect your laptop with Ethernet cable, was the result same?

Limited connection means that the system has successfully connected to the router, but the computer wasn't assigned a valid IP address, so you can't actually get to the Internet. It can also indicate that a valid IP address was assigned but that the computer doesn't have Internet connectivity. If you're connected to a home network, try restarting the router.

Check if you are able to obtain an IP (internet protocol) address. Follow the steps below to do so:

    1. Go to Start screen type command prompt select command prompt as an Administrator.
    2. Click ‘OK’ to open a MS-DOS command line window.
    3. Type "ipconfig /all" (without the quotation marks), and then hit the ‘ENTER’ key.

Hope the information provided is helpful. Do get back to us with all the information required and result of proposed suggestion. We will be happy to assist you.

    Regards,
