I had the same problem of my wifi showing limited everytime I connect. After searching in internet for 2 hours and trying various options like netsh reset, disable\enable, network discovery on, power saver change mode, tcip reset, ip config manual, metered download enable etc. nothing worked!

But then I thought to reinstall my WLAN driver. In my case, my lenovo laptop had drivers in the path D:\drivers\WLAN. I launched the setup and reinstalled and hurrah I am able to connect without any problem now!!!

Hi Rahid,

Thank you for posting here!

I would recommend you to follow these steps and check if it helps.

Does this issue occur while connecting it through a wired network?

Method 1

Run Network troubleshooter.

a. Press “windows Key + W”. from the start screen

b. Type “Troubleshooting” in the search box and hit enter.

c. Select “Network and Internet” option

d. First select “Internet connections” troubleshooter.

e. Follow the on-screen instructions.

f. Then select “Network Adapter” troubleshooter and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2

I would suggest you to try the steps from the link given below:

Method 3:

Try resetting  TCP/IP.

Reset TCPIP and check  if it works.

Follow the steps

a) Boot to the desktop view.

b) Open command prompt, right click in the left corner when the Start window appear and select command prompt (admin).

c) At the command prompt, copy and paste (or type) the following command and then press ENTER:

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Note: If you do not want to specify a directory path for the log file, use the following command:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

d) Reboot the computer.

If this was a one time event I would say your recommendations would work, but he said *continually*.  I have the same problem and it involves more than a petty fix.

    Hello!

I use Asus Ultrabook UX51VZ with Windows 8.1 and TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND WiFi router and had the same issue when I bought this new router. All devices in house (3x iphone, 1x ipad and 3x laptop) worked perfectly, just my device had a problem. Well to honest, mine also worked from time to time, but couldn't tell when is going to stop working. Anyway it was f.... annoying!

I spent more than 10 hours solving this issue and nothing helped. I read all the forums, threats, blogs possible to find a solution inside my OS, but I was still trapped in to "No internet access" or "Limited connectivity" problems. When I used the wired connection internet worked, but not through WiFi.

Than I decided to try find a solution on my WiFi router. I updated the firmware and it didn't help, so I decided to call TP-LINK customer service support. They walked me through the steps what to do and now it works. So here is what I've done:

    1. Connect to the router http://192.168.1.1/  (use the LAN cable to connect).
    2. Type the username and password in the login page. The default username and password are both admin in lowercase.
    3. On the left hand choose WIRELESS/WIRELESS SETTINGS  and change the following:

a.) Define a new Wireless Network name to a new one

    b.) Channel 11

c.) Channel Width to 20 MHz

    d.) click SAVE

    1. On the left hand choose choose WIRELESS/WIRELESS SECURITY  and change the following:

    a.) Encryption to AES

****b.) Define a new PSK Password to a new one

    c.) click SAVE

    1. On the left hand side choose SYSTEM TOOLS/REBOOT

    1. Connect you your new WiFi like a charm.

Hope this help...it definitely helped me. If you are using different WiFi router than TP-LINK try calling their customer service to walk you through.

    Good luck!

    Hello all,,

i do try everything above but nothing work with me.

Later i found out the problem which is my WIfi password was not strong. i was using a number. But after i change it to letters, numbers and symbls i got the connection without error.

Microsoft build up a new security method with windows 8. the weakness Wife password you have the more trouble will face with windows 8 wifi connection.

and to prove that try to unsecured your Wifi for a moment, you will get the connection faster without any problem.

I have face the problem after i change it till now. Hopefully Microsoft will pay me for  this solution  :).

    Good Luck
