Windows RT and Cisco VPN connections

I'm a little worried about Windows RT's (current) inability to connect to Cisco firewalls via VPN.The only thing I can find on this issue is finger pointing between Cisco and Microsoft. I understand Cisco needs to create an app, but can they with the current restraints? It should be a no brainer for Microsoft to do what they can to make this happen.

This is pretty much a make or break need for us. I really wanted to give Windows RT a chance but if this isn't cleared up, I have no compelling case to deploy Windows tablets.

Does anyone know if Microsoft will work with Cisco on this? Or do you think this is getting squashed for a reason? I don't see why because MS is allowing other VPN connections.

    Same too! Surface provided the nice Remote Desktop app but without the Cisco VPN I can't connect to my office or secure remote connection.

     

    Yeah, it's really important to get a Cisco VPN client on RT. I need it to access my uni network VPN, for secure connection and access to certain uni resources such as virtual histology slides/medical journal access. 

    Just adding my two cents to keep this thread alive so that if someone who knows the right avenues to pursue sees it, they can pressure Cisco/Microsoft.

    So far, this thread has the most "Me Too" votes of any unanswered thread for WinRT so I would hope it's on Microsoft's radar.  

    In addition, I would recommend contacting support.  I did via live chat and requested it be added in a future enhancement.  The tech recommended I just wait for Surface Pro, but I convinced him that no Surface Pro would be an iPad replacement candidate due to the limited battery life (and probably heat).

    My understanding is that the WinRT VPN setup is missing the Group Name/Password.  iPad has this and can VPN into Cisco VPN's without issues.

    Yes, I can't afford a Pro, and after enjoying the spectacular battery life of RT, don't really want to. So I need Cisco VPN support too.

    I am also adding my vote here. As a consultant I often have to connect remotely to clients. Many of whom use Juniper firewalls.

    I bought this Surface RT as an iPad replacement for the better hardware and the access to the office RT suite. Not having VPN actually means it is less functional for me than my iPad which had a client for most common vpn providers. This means I may have to sell this instead of the iPad. The Pro looks great but I use this as a tablet with occasional need to vpn into a client, not as a laptop replacement.
