Windows RT and Cisco VPN connections

I'm a little worried about Windows RT's (current) inability to connect to Cisco firewalls via VPN.The only thing I can find on this issue is finger pointing between Cisco and Microsoft. I understand Cisco needs to create an app, but can they with the current restraints? It should be a no brainer for Microsoft to do what they can to make this happen.

This is pretty much a make or break need for us. I really wanted to give Windows RT a chance but if this isn't cleared up, I have no compelling case to deploy Windows tablets.

Does anyone know if Microsoft will work with Cisco on this? Or do you think this is getting squashed for a reason? I don't see why because MS is allowing other VPN connections.

    And yet we still don't get an answer from Microsoft. Why are you not busting down Cisco's door to work with them on this? Do not take your enterprise customers for granted. Android and Apple are moving in very fast and furious.

    It appears that the fault is not Cisco's at this point. In one of the other threads on RT and VPN support (I don't have the link handy) someone posted a link to Cisco's VPN client suport page and Cisco straight out said Windows RT isn't supported since they (Cisco) don't have access to the APIs required to make a client. The WinRT api isn't enough apparently, and unlike regular WIndows 8, Microsoft still refuses to allow third parties to use win32 and .NET on Windows RT, even though the APIs work just fine (they use the APIs themselves obviously). Basically it's a political problem before it's a technical one, trying to push WinRT api and modern ui on Windows RT.

    and still no one from MS will respond to us. I can't understand this one bit. I work with enterprise customers and I see Droid and iOS moving in rapidly. I just can't understand why they are ignoring us. Companies are moving to Android and iOS for their mobile work platforms. All the while MS decides what to do with CE.NET and WEHH.

    Agreed, that is the most frustrating part... it seems all comments/requests in the different threads requesting VPN access in RT have fallen on deaf ears.

    Ive ditched my Nokia 2520 tablet because of VPN access and have moved over to a full windows tablet. Shame as I really liked the Nokia :(

    Unfortunately it's becoming clear that this is the fate of RT... there is really no point to it when you can now get x86 tablets/convertibles that get the same battery life as ARM, cost the same, but can run whatever you want to throw at them. Sad really... Windows on ARM could have been so much better...
