Windows RT and Cisco VPN connections

I'm a little worried about Windows RT's (current) inability to connect to Cisco firewalls via VPN.The only thing I can find on this issue is finger pointing between Cisco and Microsoft. I understand Cisco needs to create an app, but can they with the current restraints? It should be a no brainer for Microsoft to do what they can to make this happen.

This is pretty much a make or break need for us. I really wanted to give Windows RT a chance but if this isn't cleared up, I have no compelling case to deploy Windows tablets.

Does anyone know if Microsoft will work with Cisco on this? Or do you think this is getting squashed for a reason? I don't see why because MS is allowing other VPN connections.

    I am posting to emphasize how much we all want VPN on Windows RT.

    Hi Mike,

    I would suggest posting that issue in the Windows 8 IT Pro Forum /Networking.

    As the name suggests, that would be a better location for this type of issue .

    As Dirk said, this article doesn't say anything about any applications being created, and is mainly about existing capabilities, which don't really work with the way most businesses use/configure Cisco. They only way we could currently get it to work is to weaken security on the firewall.

    The only thing I've heard from Microsoft is Cisco is free to create an app. The only word I have heard from Cisco is they cannot move forward with a Windows RT solution without Microsoft's cooperation. This is why it's troubling.

    Well, that's not what it says. The article mentions already existing (very weak) integration capabilities with Cisco and Juniper VPN but that's clearly not enough. The author doesn't mention that Cisco or Juniper are working on it.
