Windows Update issue, getting code error: 80246008

cannot use windows update on windows 7. 32 bit. keep getting code error:80246008 ? cannot detect a system update readiness tool on my computer. ive ran SFS/SCANNOW  and its come up with nothing ? tried downloading the system update readiness tool in standalone and i get an update hotfix for windows hotfix KB947821, whick goes to initialising installation but does not install ? any suggestions please.... would be very much appreciated.... cheers

There is a configuration error with your BITS service.

Please COPY all the lines between the ++++++++ (but not the ++) and paste into a Notepad window.

Save the file as BITS.REG to your desktop.

Once saved, close Notepad.

right-click on the BITS.REG file you just saved, and select Merge from the options list.

You'll get a couple of warnings - accept them.

You should get a 'Success' message.

Reboot

now open an Elevated Command Prompt Window and COPY AND PASTE the following commands

NET START BITS

SC QC BITS

SC QUERYEX BITS

post the results.

    I checked with the System Information file you uploaded earlier and this is what is there:

    ok... that is understood BUT i now have an option in front of me  which is..... use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting windows.select an operating system to repair.      the only option in the box is as i have stated,     under operating system   is windows 7      under partition size   is    119235mb     and under location is     (D:) Vista   ???

    i have just clicked on the option LOAD DRIVERS in repair my computer  and is it possible for me to put my curser over the drives that i see in front of me and right click and re-name ?    for example change Vista (D:)  BACK TO   what it was before which was (C:)   AND CHANGE     HDD2 (C:)  drive back to what it was before which was (D:)   ???

    ok..... this is pretty much doing my head in now..... i click on my system recovery options.... which is now  (D) VISTA .... click on next......click on start up repair ...and wait......   ha !!!   start up repair could not detect a problem !!!!!

    Your situation has got too complicated. The intention was to log in to Windows 7 as Administrator but the inability to do so is stopping you from doing a Repair Install using the Windows 7 SP1  ISO you have created. I suggest you hold fire and I will get someone with more knowledge to help you.
