cannot use windows update on windows 7. 32 bit. keep getting code error:80246008 ? cannot detect a system update readiness tool on my computer. ive ran SFS/SCANNOW and its come up with nothing ? tried downloading the system update readiness tool in standalone and i get an update hotfix for windows hotfix KB947821, whick goes to initialising installation but does not install ? any suggestions please.... would be very much appreciated.... cheers

Neil Try another Repair Install. BTW If you are asked for a product key you need to enter the key that came with your Windows 7 Upgrade DVD not the original Toshiba product key.

BTW If you are asked for a product key you need to enter the key that came with your Windows 7 Upgrade DVD not the original Toshiba product key. but when i have my newly burnt windows 7 sp1 iso disc inserted it does not ask me for a key ? ok ... i will explain again.... when my sp1 iso disc that i made yesterday evening is inserted .... i am prompted to press any key to start up the disc. it opens... i have a blue screen with a couple of white doves and a green leaf ....i get to an ,install windows, box... i can either press ,install now, 'what to know before installing windows' or 'repair your computer'. when i press ' install' it says set up is starting then a license terms box. i tick accept..i click on next.... i am offered either upgrade or custom advanced. when i click on 'repair your computer' it gives me system recovery options . i do not know which one to click on as they have all changed ? i am offered HDD2 (C) VISTA (D) DATA (E) WinRE (F) Boot (X) and DEVICES WITH REMOVABLE STORAGE CD DRIVE (G).... ??

There is a configuration error with your BITS service.

Please COPY all the lines between the ++++++++ (but not the ++) and paste into a Notepad window.

Save the file as BITS.REG to your desktop.

Once saved, close Notepad.

right-click on the BITS.REG file you just saved, and select Merge from the options list.

You'll get a couple of warnings - accept them.

You should get a 'Success' message.

Reboot

now open an Elevated Command Prompt Window and COPY AND PASTE the following commands

NET START BITS

SC QC BITS

SC QUERYEX BITS

post the results.
