Let's get a little wayalong to the solution.

There is a configuration error with your BITS service.

Please COPY all the lines between the ++++++++ (but not the ++) and paste into a Notepad window.

Save the file as BITS.REG to your desktop.

Once saved, close Notepad.

right-click on the BITS.REG file you just saved, and select Merge from the options list.

You'll get a couple of warnings - accept them.

You should get a 'Success' message.

Reboot

now open an Elevated Command Prompt Window and COPY AND PASTE the following commands

NET START BITS

SC QC BITS

SC QUERYEX BITS

post the results.

    It is complicated.

If you use use Windows 7 installation disk to repair you will have a lot of windows updates to install including the SP1 update which can be quite a challenge.

To boot from the DVD you select option 2

    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD81021X0000R01.htm

I referred to a link in my last post explaining Repair Install options but omitted to include the link:

    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

You probably would be best using the Step 5 option but make sure you have a fair bit of time available before you start.

You will need 7-Zip to extract the downloaded zipped file.

this sounds pretty complicated !!!when i go to my bios, i see just below ACPI BIOS version 2.30, boot priority..... then at the top is : HDD-FDD-CDROM-LAN

    HDD priority

    =  built in HDD1-built in HDD2-usb

do i need to download Windows 7 with SP1 ISO file ?   my windows 7 installation disc does not have sp1. i got it before that came out. or can i just use the disc for repair then re download the sp1 after its repaired ?

You will need to do what is termed a Repair Install. The way you tackle it depends on whether your retail DVD has the Windows 7 SP1 update or whether the DVD is one without the SP1 update. Please check this point.

I am about to go out for a few hours. The next link contains a lot of advice of carrying out a repair install. Study the contents and ask your questions.

Note you could boot from the Windows 7 DVD, if you changed the boot sequence order in the BIOS so that the system checks  the DVD first and then the hard drive.

    http://www.hiren.info/pages/bios-boot-cdrom

Changing the boot sequence is a simple step as long as care is taken. You could just boot the computer using the DVD before attempting a repair so that you can back up any data files, information about favourites and your address book should something go  awry when you attempt the repair.

I don't think my windows 7 ultimate DVD has the sp1 as I remember having to install it a while ago now ...  Do I just pop my DVD into the laptop after turning it on and follow instructions ?? My bios which I finally sussed how to get up I'd different from all the ones in the link. I have a toshiba qosmio G50 ...  I did go into their site a week or two ago and downloaded their latest bios for it . A 2.30 version if that means anything ? I am not sure how to change anything in it though once I'm there ???  Cheers
