Windows Update issue, getting code error: 80246008

cannot use windows update on windows 7. 32 bit. keep getting code error:80246008 ? cannot detect a system update readiness tool on my computer. ive ran SFS/SCANNOW  and its come up with nothing ? tried downloading the system update readiness tool in standalone and i get an update hotfix for windows hotfix KB947821, whick goes to initialising installation but does not install ? any suggestions please.... would be very much appreciated.... cheers

Let's get a little wayalong to the solution.

There is a configuration error with your BITS service.

Please COPY all the lines between the ++++++++ (but not the ++) and paste into a Notepad window.

Save the file as BITS.REG to your desktop.

Once saved, close Notepad.

right-click on the BITS.REG file you just saved, and select Merge from the options list.

You'll get a couple of warnings - accept them.

You should get a 'Success' message.

Reboot

now open an Elevated Command Prompt Window and COPY AND PASTE the following commands

NET START BITS

SC QC BITS

SC QUERYEX BITS

post the results.

    Error code 0x80240009 means SUS_E_OPERATIONINPROGRESS  The caller attempted to perform an operation on an interface while another operation was in progress.

    Please upload copies of your System and Application logs from your Event Viewer to your Sky Drive and post a link here.

    To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window select Windows Logs and System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as and give the file a name. Do the same for the Applications log.

    You downloaded and attempted to run the system readiness tool and it failed. Lets try again making sure you have the 32 bit version of the tool.

    Download and run the System Update Readiness Tool (x86 version)

    If running the System Update Readiness tool fails to resolve the problem then I suggest you do a

    Repair Install of Windows 7

    Were your two versions of Office 2007 preinstalled or are they retail versions. Do you have a DVD for each. These were not quite  right in the WGA report. This line at the end of the section covering Office is not as it should be:

    Spsys.log Content: 0x80070002

    You may need to reinstall.

    Looking closer was Office Home and Student 2007 preinstalled by Toshiba whereas you have installed Office Professional Plus  later. Is your Office Professional Plus  2007 or 2010?

    yes, i tried this but step one where it asks for genuine windows  validation would not go ? i clicked on the continue button and waited ... and waited...... but  screen remained blank ??    i do have genuine windows 7 ultimate though !
