cannot use windows update on windows 7. 32 bit. keep getting code error:80246008 ? cannot detect a system update readiness tool on my computer. ive ran SFS/SCANNOW and its come up with nothing ? tried downloading the system update readiness tool in standalone and i get an update hotfix for windows hotfix KB947821, whick goes to initialising installation but does not install ? any suggestions please.... would be very much appreciated.... cheers

Neil Run Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware again. I would not expect you to be restricted to Safe Mode with Networking.

If you use use Windows 7 installation disk to repair you will have a lot of windows updates to install including the SP1 update which can be quite a challenge. ok, i now have 7 zip downloaded , and i also have the x17-59463.iso file downloaded in my c:drive -users-neil-downloads- file do i extract this iso file to my c:drive , which is where i want it to be ??? also.... i can only use safe mode with networking now as it will not go normally.. it freezes on windows welcome page with none of my desktop icons showing. can i extract this iso file while in safe mode with networking ?

Once saved, close Notepad.

right-click on the BITS.REG file you just saved, and select Merge from the options list.

You'll get a couple of warnings - accept them.

You should get a 'Success' message.

Reboot

now open an Elevated Command Prompt Window and COPY AND PASTE the following commands

NET START BITS

SC QC BITS

SC QUERYEX BITS

post the results.
