I am trying to install a Brother MFC-J430w wireless printer on my 32 bit Dell PC. I've downloaded the driver off the Internet, but I get a prompt saying "Unable to install printer. The print processor does not exist." What should I do?

Can you check the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Print Processors\winprint

At that registry key, in the right window, is "Driver" of the type REG_SZ and is the "Data"  winprint.dll?

Also, check that the winprint.dll exists in the C:\Windows\System32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86 folder.

More info in the following article which is for Windows NT but, in general, should also apply to Windows 7:

Yes, you could try changing localspl.dll to winprint.dll

Create a System Restore point beforehand and restart the computer afterward.

I take the error to indicate the new version of driver would be the driver for the printer however as you do not have a physical printer and the error is for all the printers, not just one, then the issue appears to be with the winprint.dll.

You could try running the System File Checker - Option Two in the following link:

When you say '*a new version of the driver from the manufacturer (if available), or choose an alternate driver that works with this print device'*do you mean the printer? I don't have any physical printer, use pdf creators (Adobe, Nitro, Wondershare). Should I, can I do anything about this, if so what?

As to the winprint.dll, no way to get and place a new file apart form  installing the hotfix?

This is a recurring error in the Event Logs from "Source" "PrintService" that may be the key:

Windows could not load print processor winprint because EnumDatatypes failed. Error code 193. Module: winprint.dll. Please obtain and install a new version of the driver from the manufacturer (if available), or choose an alternate driver that works with this print device.

The errors appear to have started about May 27 and happened to proceed Windows reporting a file structure problem on Volume C with Windows requesting a chkdsk on the volume.

So there may have been a corruption of the winprint.dll at that time.

I might suggest at this time to go ahead and install theKB2913877 hotfix to ensure a working copy of the winprint.dll.

If any issue with KB2913877 you can uninstall it.
