I am trying to install a Brother MFC-J430w wireless printer on my 32 bit Dell PC. I've downloaded the driver off the Internet, but I get a prompt saying "Unable to install printer. The print processor does not exist." What should I do?

Can you check the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Print Processors\winprint

At that registry key, in the right window, is "Driver" of the type REG_SZ and is the "Data"  winprint.dll?

Also, check that the winprint.dll exists in the C:\Windows\System32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86 folder.

More info in the following article which is for Windows NT but, in general, should also apply to Windows 7:

Yes, you could try changing localspl.dll to winprint.dll

Create a System Restore point beforehand and restart the computer afterward.

I could not install an Oki B411 printer which was connected to the USB port of a Synology NAS box.  I had previously set this up with no problems as a network shared printer, but couldn't do it again after reinstalling Windows 10 x64 (Sept 2017).  Windows could browse the network and see the shared printer as "\MyNAS\usbprinter1" but could not install it as a printer, putting up the message "The print processor does not exist".  The Synology NAS control panel showed it as "Connected".

Finally after too many hours to recount (including all of the fixes earlier in this thread), I discovered that all the above isn't enough.  It's necessary to download and run the "Synology Assistant", and use its "Printer Device | Add" function to set up network access to the printer.   Then Windows found the Oki and automatically installed its built-in driver for this printer.

I know that this is an old thread, but it comes up when searching the web for the solution.

Anyway, what worked for me is adding the TCP/IP port with the IP address of the device using the Printer Management PRIOR to starting the Brother driver installation wizard.

So just open Printer Management > go to your Local Server > Ports> Add Standard TCP/IP Port > enter the IP address of the device, and after that install the drivers.
