After inactivity of around 1 minute in windows 8 the computer locks itself... I have to reenter my password. I have tried everything, power options, personalization, and it's still not taking it off. All of the features that relate to turning off the auto lock are off too. Help please!!

Found a fix, under User Accounts, clicking reset security policies seems to have fixed the issue. Also, it fixed the issue of not being able to change the screensaver timeout. I haven't been able to track down the specific policy caused the problem in the first place, but this works for now.

I have found a fix for Windows 8.1.
Go to Lock screen setting > Turn off "Play a slide show on the lock screen"
If this option is enabled then it will lock your PC to show a slide show.
PN: This is only for windows 8.1 & if you have already disabled "Turn on lock screen on resume" in screen saver settings and still autolock is there.
I have the exact same problem. None of this is working for me. There is no option available under User Accounts to reset security policies. Machine is an Asus G750 laptop, have checked all related settings I can find in control panel, user accounts, power management, screensaver, etc... Such simple settings should not be so hard to access or alter.
Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts -> Reset security policies.
Well I think this for Windows 8 pro or equivalent. I am unable to find it on Windows 8 Single Language.
Checked Screen Saver setting, nothing unusual but it still getting locked automatically when screen is turning off.
As much as it pains me, I still have this issue on my Win8 machine (private domain, this is a client PC). I cannot 'reset the security policies' because the button simply isn't there (from what I've read, that means that no other security policies are applied).
Additionally, I've disabled lock screen time out (at least, I've changed it from one minute to 60) through the additional power options given by a registry key hack.
Anyone have any thoughts on what else to check? This is getting quite annoying, as everytime I leave to grab something, the machine locks (and therefore buzzes like crazy at full volume), but also signs me out of Skype irrevokably, have to close/restart Skype (and Lync for that matter).
