Windows Live Mail (WLM) - error: server rejects login to gmail account

Hi, can anyone help with this problem please.  I hope this is the right forum if not please advise where I should post this query.

If I access my gmail account in a browser I have no problems sending or receiving email, even when hiding my IP address (for example when using unprotected WIFI access points).

However as soon as I try access my gmail account using Windows Live Mail (whether hiding my IP address or not) I regularly get an error "The server has rejected your login. Please verify that your user name and password are correct".

I've investigated this in Live Mail support pages and my gmail setup is as advised as is my WLM setup.

Any ideas appreciated?  THIS PROBLEM HAS SOMEHOW CORRECTED ITSELF - NO MORE REPLIES PLEASE.  THANK YOU.

    Thanks. Have done all of the above multiple times. Nothing helps.

    Could this have something to do with being set up in WLM as a POP account and my phone being set up as IMAP?

    Hi Ken,

    Thank you for replying us.

    As an initial troubleshooting step I suggest you to remove & re-add the account & check if the issue persists.

    If the issue persists, then suggest you to repair the windows Essentials & check.

    Repair Windows Live Mail

    1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.

    2. Search for “Windows Essential” and click Uninstall.

    3. A new Window will open with two options a) Remove one or more Windows live program b) Repair all Windows Live Program.

    4. Click on “Repair all Windows Live Program”.

    Ken, here are some other things you can try.

    1- Right click your g mail account and select properties. Under the server tab make sure that the user name is the e mail address of your g mail account and not your name. Also check the password is correct.

    2- If that does not help you can delete the account and set it up again.
