Windows Live Mail (WLM) - error: server rejects login to gmail account

Hi, can anyone help with this problem please. I hope this is the right forum if not please advise where I should post this query.
If I access my gmail account in a browser I have no problems sending or receiving email, even when hiding my IP address (for example when using unprotected WIFI access points).
However as soon as I try access my gmail account using Windows Live Mail (whether hiding my IP address or not) I regularly get an error "The server has rejected your login. Please verify that your user name and password are correct".
I've investigated this in Live Mail support pages and my gmail setup is as advised as is my WLM setup.
Any ideas appreciated? THIS PROBLEM HAS SOMEHOW CORRECTED ITSELF - NO MORE REPLIES PLEASE. THANK YOU.

Finally a short clear concise answer which solved my problem. I spent a couple of days trying to fix this issue, searching various forums, etc. Too often, being sent to other sites with ambiguous suggestions, etc.
Luckily, I found this suggestion in time to save my sanity. Problem solved and my four eMail accounts now work within Live Mail and Windows 10.

2016-07-29T01:55:51+00:00 There an additional setting in Gmail that is now well known. I found it after a great deal of searching:
- Go to http://www.google.com and sign into your gmail account and then go to the following link https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps and set the toggle to allow less secure apps. Then setup your gmail account in Windows Live Mail and it will detect the settings automatically.

This is due to Gmail servers rejecting accessing your email account asking you to frequently login to your Gmail account through web browser and allow access to the app. I would recommend you to contact Gmail support regarding this issue, since they can provide better assistance to you regarding this query.

I have the exact same problem. The next day after I began receiving emails on a new android phone, Gmail will not accept my password through WLM unless I toggle gmail to allow access by less secure apps. That worries me.
