Windows Live Mail (WLM) - error: server rejects login to gmail account

Hi, can anyone help with this problem please.  I hope this is the right forum if not please advise where I should post this query.

If I access my gmail account in a browser I have no problems sending or receiving email, even when hiding my IP address (for example when using unprotected WIFI access points).

However as soon as I try access my gmail account using Windows Live Mail (whether hiding my IP address or not) I regularly get an error "The server has rejected your login. Please verify that your user name and password are correct".

I've investigated this in Live Mail support pages and my gmail setup is as advised as is my WLM setup.

Any ideas appreciated?  THIS PROBLEM HAS SOMEHOW CORRECTED ITSELF - NO MORE REPLIES PLEASE.  THANK YOU.

    Hi,

    Based on the detailed issue description that you' have provided,you're receiving the error due to the following possibilities:

    - A temporary problem occured on the server

    • Internet connectivity issue.

    You might want to check with your Internet Service Provider for possible intermittent connection on specific dates.

    With regard to the folder issue, were you able to check the arrow button beside your account on Windows Live Mail? Clicking the arrow will toggle to display or hide the folders.

    Ok, finally, after running all night, it has updated all the messages in my inbox.

    However, I still have no folders. They exist in the inbox in Gmail but Windows Live Mail isn't downloading them. Is there some setting for this I missed?

    I managed to connect (my company uses an email domain other than @gmail.com so I had to manually put that into the login prompt). Now, is isn't downloading folders or any email since 2009.

    I like Windows Live Mail because it is the only client I have been able to make work with gmail and it has the versatility of a good client that is sorely lacking from the gmail web interface.

    I just wish I could get it to work without so many problems.

    Well, thanks a lot. That deleted all my email and those settings do not log into gmail. Did you just make that up?

    The problem I was having, was that although I could connect and download email, at random times, I would incessantly get the message  "The server has rejected your login. Please verify that your user name and password are correct".

    If I would wait a few seconds then click ok to log in again, it will start getting the mail, but usually gets the error after a few messages or the next time it checks mail. Some days, it works fine. Other days, It won't hardly work at all.
