Windows 8 - Media Center DisplayPort HDCP support nonexistent

This feedback was provided under Windows 7, however action has not been taken to correct this issue for Windows 8 either.

ERROR:

Display driver error – the video playback device does not support playback of protected content.

ISSUE:

Media Center with a CableCard tuner doesn't work at all on DisplayPort, because DisplayPort is not detected as HDCP compliant by Media Center. CableLabs Certifited DisplayPort as HDCP compliant but Media Center still hasn't been updated and it still thinks that it's not compliant.

REQUEST:

Requesting Microsoft to produce a patch so that DisplayPort is detected as HDCP compliant by Media Center.

    Are you using Windows Media Center to view protected content? If so, make sure you have the latest Playready version 1.3.10 installed. As far as I know WMC is the only path to protected content on the Surface. Windows Media Player cannot play protected content.

    I am using WMC.  I tried it on both the Surface pro2 and then on the 3.  Play ready loads when media center sets up.  I think many have had this problem.  Nonprotected programming plays normally, but as soon as you select a protected channel, Media center blocks the viewing and prevents it from playing.  I became so frustrated with it that I eventually gave up my cable box and switched to over the air recording and have had not problems.

    Make sure you have uninstalled Playready 1.3 if you have installed Playready 1.3.10. Playready 1.3.10 does not remove the older version when installed. If Playready is Ok, as a last effort I would remove WMC via Turn Windows Features on and off and then add it back in again. When it's back verify the Playready version is 1.3.10.

    Remember that protected content recorded prior to a system upgrade, made on another system, or imported manually will never play on your current system.

    Did anyone try the above-mentioned update to PlayReady 1.3.10 ? Did it finally allow display of protected content on built-in (embedded DisplayPort) or external DisplayPort device?

    I just nodiced that my Media Center stoped saying  "HDCP Support Required" and now says "Display Driver Error, so I looked at Nvidia Control Panel and I saw this.

     

    I think the repeater it's refering to is the fact that the monitor supports DisplayPort daisy chaining.

     sooooo, can I not watch protected content in Media Center with DisplayPort daisy chained monitors?
