Windows 8 - Media Center DisplayPort HDCP support nonexistent

This feedback was provided under Windows 7, however action has not been taken to correct this issue for Windows 8 either.

ERROR:

Display driver error – the video playback device does not support playback of protected content.

ISSUE:

Media Center with a CableCard tuner doesn't work at all on DisplayPort, because DisplayPort is not detected as HDCP compliant by Media Center. CableLabs Certifited DisplayPort as HDCP compliant but Media Center still hasn't been updated and it still thinks that it's not compliant.

REQUEST:

Requesting Microsoft to produce a patch so that DisplayPort is detected as HDCP compliant by Media Center.

    If you notice some of these newer monitors have a HDMI and DisplayPort connection so you can just change inputs when you want to watch Media Center until this is updated within Windows Media Center.

    I was about to buy a G-SYNC monitor until I came across this. G-SYNC works only with DisplayPort, and I'm not going to switch back and forth between inputs to play movies. Fix it, Microsoft.

    There is absolutely nothing anyone can do to view WMC protected content on any sort of a DisplayPort connection. Internal DP, External DP, Mini DP. Doesn't matter. If the end connection to the display is DP, you can not view WMC protected content. However, if you have an adapter to convert the end connection to DVI or HDMI, it will work since the end connection is no longer DP. Of course, this means your new laptop (or even any Surface) will never display WMC protected content on it's main display.

    Again, no amount of tinkering or changing settings will ever fix this. The ONLY solution is for Microsoft to update WMC/PlayReady to properly recognize DisplayPort as an HDCP compliant connection.

    Microsoft Surface Pro 3 with Microsoft Windows 8.1 with Microsoft Windows Media Center doesn't work because of this issue.

    On the w8.1 go to devices>project>and select  second screen only. This turns off your laptop screen and makes the monitor the primary (only) screen and protected content is now displayable thru the mini display port..

    Again, this does NOT fix the problem. Have you actually tried it?
