Bubbles screensaver has black background

In Windows 7, the Bubbles screen saver created bubbles that moved over the top of whatever was on my screen at the time.

In Windows 8, if I go to the screen saver settings and preview the Bubbles screensaver, it shows the same behavior – bubbles moving over the top of my existing desktop.

But when the Bubbles screensaver actually activates in Windows 8, the bubbles only appear over a background color which I selected.

Is there something wrong with my settings or video drivers?

There is nothing wrong with your screensaver settings, or your video drivers and system. .

A design change was made in Windows 8 that prevents screensavers from drawing over an image of the desktop.  Any screensaver that previously drew over the desktop, such as Bubbles, will instead draw over a black background.  The screensaver preview is incorrectly showing Windows 7 behavior.

That was already answered above by a Microsoft Forum Moderator

And WHY exactly did they decide to ruin a good thing?  I swear, windows is on such a steady downhill slide, I doubt it will ever recover.

this design change sucks. but you can fix this inside the group policy editor. see youtube for directions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=898cvCQC75c

I, of course, found the one on how to make solid bubbles on the desktop, since you were kind enough to leave a link, but that does not help us RETURN to the desktop, with transparent bubbles, in windows 10, instead of having them on a solid background like everyone here is griping about.

This might be fantastic, if I could FIND the youtube video that shows a Win10 fix, but, since I just wasted a good 45 mins trying, I'm appealing to you to show us where to find it.

boy, aren't you the snippy snippy know it all.  Is someone forcing you to sit here and answer?

By manually do you mean "preview" in the screensaver window?  Because, if you do, then that leaves you with the bloomin screensaver window sitting there, and uh, maybe some people don't want to look at that.
