ntldr missing error message Windows xp home

Hey,

I turned my pc off the other night closed as normal but now I am getting the NTLDR missing error message, I do not have the Windows dics as it is a 6 year old pc.  The computer is a Pachard Bell but I have upgraded the system and I dont think it has any of their parts left, I have norton running on the system, any ideas how to fix this? I have looked at a lot of help pages but all of them talk about the windows cd, is it a major problem if I do not have this?

Any help would be great.

    Based on the motherboard you listed previously you have an Intel chipset which means you need the Intel Rapid storage driver. Does the computer have a floppy disk drive?

    Hey Daavee

    How do I find the type of BIOS I have?

    I do have a sata docking station for my hdd, could this help with anything?

    I do not have the windows disc for this computer.

    In addition to the question asked by Daavee, can you tell us which service pack your Windows disc has?

    I have had a look on the bois/coms setting and I have not been able to find any way to disable AHCI or find out how to operate in IDE only.

     

    I have a Gigabyte GA-EG41MF-US2H

    anyone know how to do this?

    Which BIOS do you have?

    Different BIOSes call the same thing by different names. Perhaps there is an entry called "SATA Controller Mode Option" and you can change the setting to "Compatibility."
