Hey,
I turned my pc off the other night closed as normal but now I am getting the NTLDR missing error message, I do not have the Windows dics as it is a 6 year old pc. The computer is a Pachard Bell but I have upgraded the system and I dont think it has any of their parts left, I have norton running on the system, any ideas how to fix this? I have looked at a lot of help pages but all of them talk about the windows cd, is it a major problem if I do not have this?
Any help would be great.

ok did that but now im getting another new error, I get to select window to run but then get this message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
\minint\system32\config\system
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair
I went into the repair option but could not find how to fix this, I have just run a chkdsk /r but I am still getting the same file.
It has been a while since I have had to use the procedure described in my previous post but, I do not believe you should have to designate a destination. Regardless, let's copy the file and not expand .
Boot into recovery console following the previous steps above. When at the command line enter the following command.
copy <space>G:\i386\kernel32.dl_ <space> C:\windows\
NOTE: (Do not type the word space or use the < > symbols. I placed them only to inform you there is a space between copy and the letter of your cd drive and between the underscore _ and the letter C). Also, this assumes your cd rom drive is G since that is what you put into your post above. If that is not correct use the proper letter instead.
the messages I am seeing are:
"ren kernel32.dll kernel32.old" = The system cannot find the file specified
"expand d:\i386\kernel32.dl_" = No destination specified for G:\i386\kernel32.dl_
any ideas how to deal with these?
What is the error message?
Thank you for this info, I have tried the details you have sent but they did not work, when I put in the info at the comand prompt it does not work, I keep getting error messages.
