Hey,
I turned my pc off the other night closed as normal but now I am getting the NTLDR missing error message, I do not have the Windows dics as it is a 6 year old pc. The computer is a Pachard Bell but I have upgraded the system and I dont think it has any of their parts left, I have norton running on the system, any ideas how to fix this? I have looked at a lot of help pages but all of them talk about the windows cd, is it a major problem if I do not have this?
Any help would be great.

I'm almost positive that the error you are receiving is the result of not having the proper sata/raid drivers.
First, go into your system settings (bios) and see if it has the option to disable ahci or if it has the option to operate in IDE only. Otherwise, you will need to get the sata drivers for your computer and slipstream them into a Windows disc. Try the first suggestions before venturing into slipstreaming.
ok the bsod problem is:

With all due respect to the answer given by davee, the cause of the bsod depends on what the error is. Since you have upgraded the computer it is possible the bsod is caused by not having the sata/raid controller driver.

Sometimes when installing Win Xp with a disc that does not have the proper sata/raid driver you will get a message similar to "Windows was unable to locate a hard disk". Other times, depending on the computer brand you will get a bsod. This same rule applies to running Windows Xp Recovery Console. Tell us what the bsod error is. That would help out a lot. Different errors have different codes for a reason. To inform you what the error is resulting from.
I have redone the disc and it now runs, I get to the point it starts to run the cd, starts to load windows but then I now get the blue screen of death, any ideas on this one?
This implies a hardware problem (a bad hard drive, likely). But first make sure there are no peripherals attached. That is, only mouse, keyboard, and monitor should be connected.
