Nokia Lumia 610 - can't connect to wifi

Everything BUT my phone has worked on both networks I've tried... even the hotel wifi. No, though, I still haven't restarted the expensive router. To be honest, I'd forgotten about it in the chaos of life.

However, we did have a miracle of miracles when we hooked up another router in the house along with the expensive Netgear router (not LinkSys, sorry for my mistake in my last post). My phone still refuses to connect to the expensive router's network, even though it has in the past before this issue... but automatically reconnected to the other router without my knowledge when my boyfriend hooked it up for me the other day and forgot to tell me about it.

Both routers are running on the same base connection in the house, and I believe the second router is a Netgear also, just an older and cheaper model. I'm not sure if the difference in connectivity is due to the model/speed/channel of the router, or if it's something else entirely, but at least my phone will connect now.

If I can supply any more information that may be of help let me know. I'll do my best to get it to you. I may, however, require instructions on how to FIND said information, but I will try lol

*edit: Also, I remembered my phone model number wrong. Apologies >.<; I have a Lumia 635 running 8.1 Lumia Cyan (I just confirmed via model number lookup and phone settings).

Please, clarify whether your have a

A) Lumia 610 with Windows Phone 7.8, or

B) another device with Windows Phone 8.1.

It is not possible to conclude from 1, 2, 3 to N. Therefore, that statement does not help. Your Wi-Fi access point might not accept certain Wi-Fi band (2.4 GHz), technologies (802.11n), or … anymore. It could be anything, because Wi-Fi does have certain fallback features which might create interoperability issues – while running/using the network. Furthermore, if you have two routers in your home network, you might have two DHCP servers.

Please:

1. remove this second router from your home network. Are other devices still able to go on the Internet?
2. turn-off all Wi-Fi clients and the Wi-Fi access points. Only plug-in the previous access point and only start your Lumia. Is your Lumia able to connect now?

I apologize, I don't know why I keep thinking posting anything I say at 3AM will make sense lol.

Okay, so sorry for the confusion. Let me clarify:

1.) I'm running a Nokia Lumia 635 with 8.1.

2.) The original router is a Netgear R6200 Smart Wifi Router.

3.) Removing the second router from the network, all other devices still connect to the internet through the first router. This second Router is a Belkin Connect N150.

4.) Restarting the router solves nothing. The phone still won't connect.

5.) Turning off all other wifi access points and clients, the phone still won't connect.

It may be unrelated but my phone also now refuses to connect to the original router at all. Attempting to connect yields to the phone saying "Connecting", but never actually connecting to the access point, even when every other wireless device in the house is using it. It does pick up and show me that the network exists with a strong signal. But it cannot connect to it.

Did you turn off all devices (including that Wi-Fi access point and your Windows Phone)? After that start the Wi-Fi access point and wait until all lights lid. Then, start your Windows Phone. Within All apps » Settings » Wi-Fi, is the phone (at least) able to see/show your access point?

Not quite that precisely, but I have done those things.

I chose a time when no one else in the house was awake and all other devices in the house were asleep/powered down, then reset the router and the phone. I still have an error of "Your phone cannot connect to this network."

It detects and displays that the network exists, it just won't connect to it. This is true even when I'm sitting next to the router and have the best possible signal.
