Nokia Belle Refresh update just launched

Hi all,

great news! We just started to roll out our next update for Symbian called Nokia Belle Refresh for Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia X7 and Nokia Oro with version number 111.040.1511 (Nokia E6, version number 111.140.0058, will follow still this week, Nokia 500 updates will follow shortly).

This update again brings new features to Symbian smartphones, for example:

-          a new browser with HTML5 web apps support, a new set of homescreen widgets, and the previously released Microsoft Office Mobile App and Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 in one package.

-          Nokia N8 will have some extra apps for imaging

The update will be rolled out in phases, starting with the vanilla versions (ie. basic software variants without any specific operator or country configuration). Country and operator variants will follow within the next weeks, depending on local and operator approvals.

pS: Just like after updating from Nokia Anna to Nokia Belle, some apps may not work due to compatibility issues. If you need more information on available apps, please contact your local Nokia Care support. Furthermore, you can also contact the respective App developer to enquire about the compatibility.

    I concur with Dan555 totally. There are no technical aspects involved to treat country unbranded variants the same as vanilla phones. So there must be other than technical aspects involved to make Nokia treat country unbranded variants differently. I wrote about that in a former post. One point of warning. A branded phone, which has been made simlockfree afterwards, remains a branded version. I suspect, that the pace of the roll out in regard to country related variants will be dictated by the last approving carrier. That is why the roll out in a particular country contains country variants and branded variants at the same time. Only in a few cases I saw it differently in the roll out of the Anna and Belle update in the past. As for the N8 the status quo of the Belle Refresh update is still on halt.   .

    My local operator (Vodafone Ireland) has advised me that their software test team has still not received the Belle Refresh update from Nokia to test and release...  Is this correct as it seems a very long time since announcement that an operator that sold many N8s nationally has not received a key update?

    Hi testarossa42,

    I advise customers to "shop" aroung in their own country to gather information about the roll out of an update like Belle Refresh. You did the right move by contacting your provider. Hang in there.

    I'm so sorry Nokia but are you mocking us? At least keep us informed about the technical or other reasons for this delay on Belle Refresh rollout by model/code/variant/operator/something...:thumbdown:
