Nokia Belle Refresh update just launched

Hi all,

great news! We just started to roll out our next update for Symbian called Nokia Belle Refresh for Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia X7 and Nokia Oro with version number 111.040.1511 (Nokia E6, version number 111.140.0058, will follow still this week, Nokia 500 updates will follow shortly).

This update again brings new features to Symbian smartphones, for example:

-          a new browser with HTML5 web apps support, a new set of homescreen widgets, and the previously released Microsoft Office Mobile App and Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 in one package.

-          Nokia N8 will have some extra apps for imaging

The update will be rolled out in phases, starting with the vanilla versions (ie. basic software variants without any specific operator or country configuration). Country and operator variants will follow within the next weeks, depending on local and operator approvals.

pS: Just like after updating from Nokia Anna to Nokia Belle, some apps may not work due to compatibility issues. If you need more information on available apps, please contact your local Nokia Care support. Furthermore, you can also contact the respective App developer to enquire about the compatibility.

    It hasn't even been three weeks yet since the rollout started so there's plenty of time yet for the update to become available for our phones. I'm currently waiting for the update to be approved by my network (Virgin Mobile UK) and don't expect it for a couple of weeks yet if they do approve it.

     The update process for Android is generally similar to that of Android. And a friend of mine is still on last years firmware on his Galaxy S because T-Mobile UK couldn't care less, whereas my   Galaxy S was on the latest firmware before the phone died.

    I'm going to have to insist and spell it out that practically everyone asking where their update is in this thread has a SIM-free phone with a country varient product code. If the vanilla product codes (euro, apac, etc...) already have local regulatory approval for roll then the reason for the country variant product codes being held up escapes me, they don't need operator-specfic approval or software changes; just local regulatory approval which has already been granted for the vanilla product codes.

    There has been no change in the number of variant firmware images available for download over this past week for N8; just Finland for country variants and Finland, Denmark, and Austria for operator variants. It's almost as if the roll-out process has stalled.

    I'd just like to point out that unlocking a phone is not always a hack - or at least it shouldn't be. I unlocked my phone from Vodafone Australia via the Vodafone Australia website after speaking with their customer support team. If there are problems relating to a phone being unlocked then it is not necessarily the fault of the user
