Nokia Belle Refresh update just launched

Hi all,

great news! We just started to roll out our next update for Symbian called Nokia Belle Refresh for Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia X7 and Nokia Oro with version number 111.040.1511 (Nokia E6, version number 111.140.0058, will follow still this week, Nokia 500 updates will follow shortly).

This update again brings new features to Symbian smartphones, for example:

-          a new browser with HTML5 web apps support, a new set of homescreen widgets, and the previously released Microsoft Office Mobile App and Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 in one package.

-          Nokia N8 will have some extra apps for imaging

The update will be rolled out in phases, starting with the vanilla versions (ie. basic software variants without any specific operator or country configuration). Country and operator variants will follow within the next weeks, depending on local and operator approvals.

pS: Just like after updating from Nokia Anna to Nokia Belle, some apps may not work due to compatibility issues. If you need more information on available apps, please contact your local Nokia Care support. Furthermore, you can also contact the respective App developer to enquire about the compatibility.

    I'm happy, the music player was pretty much the only thing I was really interested in in the update... The other stuff is icing on the cake. I really do wonder why Nokia USA decided to break up the update into so many parts considering they didn't do it that way for anyone else in the world...

    Here is another heads up for you. I've got the same updates for the calendar and music player today and I'm in the UK. So, it's not just the USA getting incremental updates.

    @eck3ko.  Resetting your N8 will only recover space from stranded file fragments.  The only way to really free up C: memory is to:

    (1) Delete all files in C: memory with the word "install" in the name (such as map and store installers).  Any time you do a future install, a new copy of the installer will be download anyway, so why waste the space storing old installer files in C: memory?

    (2) Delete all .txt files from C: memory.  These are archive files and are of no value to you as the phone owner.

    (3) Set the Store download default to E: memory.  Remove apps installed in C: memory and reinstall then on E: where possible.  Some apps, like Communicator and QuickOffice, only install in C: memory.  Since I do user Communicator, I unistalled it, and I replaced QuickOffice with Smart Office ($.99), which is a much better app and installs in E:

    (4) Every time you use your browser, go into settings and clear all privacy data (especially cache and cookies) before you close it.

    (5) Delete sent emails from the mail widget, and limit the number of you retain in your inbox.

    (6) Delete old conversations from the messaging widget.

    I use these techniques and my 059C8T6 still has 130mb of free C: memory after 2 years of daily use.  As far this refresh is concerned, I will only install it to get the updated browser.  I have no interest in the new homescreen widgets or the Microsoft Apps (especially with Smart Office installed in E: memory), so I am not concerned with Nokia putting unlocked NAM devices at the end of the cycle... incidentally, I don't find any of Nokia's Windows phone offerings to be an improvement over the N8, so keeping my N8 in top shape will be my continuing priority.

    Do you use a special application at your phone to locate the files to delete at c? or a PC application????
