cannot forward emails with photos

When I search for "One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found," I'm directed to the WLM Forum. I didn't get that message in Outlook Express. I didn't get that message in Outlook. But I do get it with WLM. Entering that quote in the Forum, however, yields no results, but if the Internet is to be believed, this is a systemic issue in WLM that Microsoft has not acknowledged even exists as of 12-15-2012.

Specifically, if I try to forward a post with pictures nicely presented/embedded, they are recieved as a Slideshow and/or with a blank window and the dreaded red X. The context of the post, alas, is ruined.

I was able to find a couple of suggestions. One was that I add my Gmail address in the Security Tab of Windows Essentials (which I did). Another was that I save the pictures to my desktop, open a new mail, insert the pictures... (which I didn't. Having to scratch my watch and wind my butt in order to forward a couple shots of the grandkids is, of course, patently unacceptable.)

Is there no one from Microsoft with the grace or integrity to (1) cop to the fact that WLM is flawed, (2) a fix is on the way, or (3) my WLM is not configured properly with an accompanying tutorial?

Thank you in advance for your relevant comments, suggestions, or- dare I hope?- solutions to this vexing issue.

I hope you don’t mind if I jump into the fray, but I think I may have something to offer.

 1) My son received an email from a friend, a cute “Another Blond Joke” with 6 pictures (gifs) imbedded into the body of the email. All is good.

 2) My son (XP OE) then forwarded this to my wife. It came in as sent. All is still good.

3. My wife (XP OE) then forwarded this to me. It came in as sent. All is good once again.

 4) To do a test, I (Win7 WLM) went to forward it to myself and my other email client. I got the dreaded “One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found. …”. I sent it anyway!

5. I then opened the email in my other email client (Win7 MS Outlook). The text was there and there were 6 “Boxes” where the pictures (gifs) had been. These were now stripped out of the body of the email and shown as attachments at the top of the email. Altering the forwarded email in this way pretty much ruined it. What a disappointment!
6. Now, just for the heck of it, for another test, I (Win7 WLM) again forwarded the email, intact as I had received it, to myself. Once more I got the dreaded “One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found. …”. I sent it anyway!
7. This time I opened it from where I had sent it (Win7 WLM). Would you believe it, now the text was there and there were 6 “Boxes” where the pictures (gifs) had been. It is so obvious that WLM is seriously flawed, and has been so for a ridiculously long period of time.

Now, before some moderator again asks the standard questions, to which I am not going to reply, I have a suggestion. Ample submissions have been made concerning this issue. Get yourselves computers using the various operating systems and email clients as have been reported to you. Create your own examples; I am sure you can find the expertise and knowledgeable personnel to do this. All it will take is a willingness and commitment on your part. And please, please, please, find a way to keep your WLM users informed and let them know what to expect. “Keep checking back to this thread” is not good enough.

Yes I got that with Windows 8 and WLMail 2012 I have Googled the error and there are thousands of people asking too and getting no sense out othe answers.

Did you solve the problem and get WLmail working?

The Experts here from Micrsoft just do not seem to understand the problem we are getting so not giving solutions that work.

You can use it as a stand alone program.....I do use Firefox as well, because it is just a safer and better browser than any other.....But I used TB before I made FireFox my browser....

One question I have  - (forgive me I'm middle-aged )- do you have to download all of Mozilla (browser as well), or can you just use Thunderbird as a stand alone programme.

I went to Thunderbird after I first posted here, and never looked back....It is a decent program...Takes a little getting used to, but ten times better than Live Mail.....I don't think I would go back to OE if the did reestablish it....TB needs a little tweaking here and there, but all in all, I am satisfied...Good luck if you go to it....I do not think you will be disappointed....
