Hello,

I receive the error “Bootmgr is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart” when I start Windows. I have found the issue but I don’t see a good solution. What’s the best way to fix this issue?

Thanks

LD

Hello LD,

This message usually indicates that the boot sector is damaged or missing. The boot sector is a region of your hard disk that contains information that is used to load your operating system. If a boot failure is detected when your PC is starting, you may receive this error message.

To resolve this issue, use the steps in the following KB article:

You receive Error message: “Bootmgr is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart” when starting Windows

Hope this helps,

Bobby

You need to repair or copy the bootmgr file.

    Do the following steps,

    • Put the Windows installation disc in the disc drive, and start the computer.(In the BIOS settings, make CD/DVD as first bootable device)
    • Press a key when the message indicating "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD …". appears.
    • Select a language, a time, a currency, and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next.
    • Click Repair your computer.
    • Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
    • In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
    • Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd , and then press ENTER.

    thank you!!!
