“Microsoft Solitaire Collection” game crashes with the error.

Original Title: Microsoft Solitaire Collection - Buggy, Crashes, and Resets Stats and Challenges

I'm having a terrible time with the Solitaire Collection for Windows 8. It frequently crashes, and now, for the second time THIS MONTH, it has reset my "Daily Challenges" to zero and wiped out all my achievements and coins. Oddly, when I go back to try to do them over, it says I've already done the challenge once, so I can't even re-earn the coins I lost!

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but it hasn't helped... nothing changed.

Often, if I click on a game or challenge, the app will just shut down and take me to my Windows Start screen.

I'm very disappointed with this buggy card game collection. I wish I could just have my Windows 7 card games back. :(

Problems with lost progress on Daily Challenges, etc. appears to be  known problem that Microsoft are working on some of the Microsoft game apps. Take a look at the relevant Xbox forums here:

    http://forums.xbox.com/gfw/xbox_on_windows/l-o/f/3066.aspx

    for examples.

    In particular, please see:

    http://forums.xbox.com/gfw/xbox_on_windows/l-o/f/3066/t/373762.aspx  .

I suggest people with these problems keep an eye on the above forums for updates.

For me, the problem is the Solitaire program cannot sign into Xbox Live.  It continues to attempt to login.  If I exit out of Solitaire and go to the Xbox app it logs in fine.  If you can't log into Xbox Live in the Solitaire app it fails.  I wish it didn't REQUIRE you to log into Xbox live.  VERY disappointed with Windows 8.

I have tried your suggestions -- several times, in fact -- and nothing seems to resolve the issue. I also have reinstalled Microsoft Solitaire Collection several times. I am only speculating here, but perhaps there is nothing actually "wrong" with the app. Could there possibly be some sort of compatibility issue with the Internet connection. Whatever the problem exists, I am disappointed Microsoft has not resolved this issue, or even noticed there was a problem during beta testing for Windows 8.

    Hi**,**

Thank you for posting your question in Microsoft Community.

From your issue description, I understand that **you are unable to play the Microsoft Solitaire Collection” Game as normal.**Please let me know if you are not facing this issue.

I can understand the inconvenience caused to you. I will help you resolve the issue!

Before we proceed with troubleshooting, I would need little information on the issue.

    1. Do you face this issue with only this app or with other app?
    2. Have you made any recent changes to the computer prior to this issue?

Try the methods and check after each method:

    Method 1:

    Step 1: Run App Troubleshooter.

Note: The troubleshooter automatically fixes some issues that might prevent your apps from running, including suboptimal screen resolution and incorrect security or account settings.

Step 2: Perform System File Checker (SFC) scan, to repair the missing/corrupted system files.

    a)      Move the mouse pointer to bottom left of the screen where you see preview of start menu and Right-click to bring up a list of Windows settings.

    b)      Click on ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’ to bring up an elevated command prompt. Note: Click ‘Yes’ if it prompts for permission.

    c)      In the command prompt type in the following command and then press Enter.

    sfc /scannow

Method 2: What to do if you have problems with an app:

If the issue persists, post your reply with results and questions asked as above. We are happy to assist you further with advanced troubleshooting steps!

    Hope it helps.

I'm also seeing this, ran the app troubleshooter to no avail. My twitter app is doing the same thing. Here's the info from the event log:
