Movie Maker stops working while editing

Here are some options for you to get this issue addressed with regard to your outdated video card driver:

1. Download and install the update specific to your VGA hardware. Link: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22165&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%20Vista%20Home%20Premium%2C%2032-bit%20version*&DownloadType=Drivers
2. If the above link does not work on your computer or is not allowing you to install it, download and install the Intel Driver Update Utility tool. This tool will help you detect which driver updates

are relevant to your computer, and then helps you install them quickly and easily. Link: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu

Lastly, if the VGA hardware installed on your laptop could not be updated anymore due to alterations made by your computer's OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), you can revert back to using Windows Movie Maker 2.6 for Vista. Remember to uninstall any existing Windows Live Essentials 2011 products installed on your machine before proceeding with the installation of Movie Maker 2.6 for Vista in order to avoid any conflicting processes along the way.

I have Movie Maker 2.6 for Vista installed. It stopped working around the same time as WLMM.

We understand that you were able to use Movie Maker back in October 2012 but just to confirm, was it the "old version" that was working fine (the 2.6 version) or was it Windows Live Movie Maker 2011?

BOTH versions were working fine in October.

You have submitted sample files for us to investigate and we saw that you had the old version (MWSMM file extension for the 2.6 version) as well as the new one (WLMP file extension for WLMM 2011) included in those. So just to clarify this issue further, the old project file which was created in the 2.6 version and was running under the Vista platform would eventually work fine assuming that you were using this version prior to getting the 2011 version installed. The reason we can say this is because based on the log files you have submitted, the video card driver version running on that machine was from a 2008 update and therefore can support the project file as well as the application if you were using the 2.6 version.

Well, 2.6 stopped working too as I mentioned a few times in the thread above. I believe one time I said "I spoke too soon" when I tried out 2.6 and it stopped working as well. It just did not give as much warning.

As for running Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 version on your Vista machine, it can be done so with no problems at all provided that the "video card driver version is up to date".

It IS up to date. Toshiba has a proprietary version and they have not changed it since 2008. I know, I went to the Toshiba update site and that is what it told me. Also, I used your very own "Update Driver Software" utility and searched online. Its response (just now, and every other time you gus told me to update it) reads as follows (Mobil Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family): "The best driver software for your device is already installed

Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date."

I used the Intel site that YOU GUYS GAVE ME and it referred me to Toshiba. TOSHIBA SAYS IT IT UP TO DATE. I posted all of this to you guys already.

As stated above, the video card driver running on your VISTA machine was from a 2008 update - 3 years even before WLMM 2011 was created. Pointing out to my previous post as well, these new Movie Maker versions (both 2011 and 2012) uses "extensive graphics rendering application" meaning it will fully utilize your video card's hardware functionality and if these are not updated appropriately then one should expect to run into problems when doing so (one of which would be crashing events as the hardware could not handle the requirements needed by Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 to run properly). This is the reason why we keep urging you to have this hardware of yours updated in order to, if not alleviate, solve the concern that you are having.

Then how about telling me how to use whatever I was using in OCTOBER 2012 that worked just fine? BOTH VERSIONS WORKED FINE THEN.

AND HOW THE **** DO I UPDATE A "VIDEO BOARD" IN A LAPTOP? You know this Toshiba Satellite LAPTOP is indeed a laptop, right?

Please understand that as much as we would want to help you out further with your concern, if there would be limitations as to what your VISTA machine could do then we would be stuck in a situation where we could not diagnose further what needs to be done in order to get the problem resolved. I am wondering as well as to why your laptop does not accept new updates whereas upon checking the website of your video card's driver updates, I can see that new versions are made available for you to download and install.

INTEL SAYS MINE IS A PROPRIETARY TOSHIBA VERSION. I TOLD YOU GUYS THIS WEEKS AGO WHEN I WENT TO THE INTEL SITE YOU GAVE ME AND IT SAID I HAD TO GO TO TOSHIBA!

If you are unable to use Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 on your VISTA machine, then it would be best to use another one that works and has an updated driver version for this matter.

I might as be talking to Apple where "get a new machine" is the law.
