Nokia Lumia 800 won't connect to Zune.

Everytime i connect my phone to my computer the Zune software starts up.

However, it comes up with an error message saying 'Can't connect your phone, disconnect it, restart it and retry it'

I have restarted my phone and retried it 5 times, i've restarted my laptop 5 times and it still won't connect!

 I you change your date time to tomorrow it works. I think it is a problem with the leap year."

    Now it is March 3 here (in Spain), and I have the exact same problem with a Nokia Lumia 800 and Zune. It is impossible to connect my Lumia to Zune, with the USB cable. I've spent a day trying all kinds of things, with no luck. I called Nokia Care, but the lady had absolutely no idea what could be wrong. Now I read all of your suggestions, tried a few more things, but it still does not work.

    I've never been able to see a certificate inside "Personal", using certmgr.msc.

    This is a major problem for such an expensive phone, and should be fixed right away. I'm sure they know what we are talking about.

    I believe it was realted to the date ( leap year).  if the date was change on the phone yesterday it would have worked.

    OK. The date and time now is actually March 1 so I do not need to change the system date time.  It did not work for me.

    Now, what I have done is to reinstall Zune, sign-in, and then plug the phone in.  And it works.

    Strangest thing in the world.  But I am happy now.  Cheers all.

    I'd recommend you to change the date to March 1st 2012, and then:

    1: Go to "Start" and in "Search" type: certmgr.msc

    2: Open the folder "Personal" and then "Certificates"

    3: Remove the zunetuner certificate (If there are more than one, remove them all)

    4: Open the private keys folder by typing in "Start" and "Search":

    %userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA

    5: Rename the "S-1-5-21..." folder's name so it ends in .bak.

    (A new folder will automatically be created when Zune is launched and the phone connected.)

    If this corrects the problem, restore the private keys folder:

    1. Open the folder at %userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA that you renamed to end with .bak. Select and copy all the files.
    2. Go back to "Start" and in "Search" type: %userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA and open the new folder that was created automatically.
    3. Paste all the files back into this folder. When prompted with "There is already a file with the same name in this location" choose to not move the file, leaving the file in the destination directory.
    4. The folder renamed to end with .bak can now be deleted.

    Try again and tell us what happens!
