Java is not working on my computer. It is new computer with windows 8 and internet explorer 10. I downloaded Java and using explorer from desktop.
But every time I go on line and website requires Java I get same error message "ClassNotFoundExeption". Same error I get if I go to Java website and hit Test Java button. I tried different things that were suggested on Java.com and Microsoft.com but nothing worked. I have newest Java and did not have any problems downloading it. I appreciate any suggestions.

Was the original issue ever resolved? I still can't get Java to work and I've tried all of the above except setting up a new user account which didn't make sense. Using Windows 8 - 64 bit, Java 32 bit and I've installed and uninstalled multiple times on the desktop. The site I'm accessing works fine on my Windows 7 laptop and I have all the same settings in Java on both laptops.
When browsing in the Win8 App IE you can click on the Tool icon in the bottom right corner and select View on Desktop.

I don't know what happened but I am having problems again with JAVA and IE8. When I go to the site that uses JAVA and try to use the animated weather maps it sends me directly to JAVA to download their update. I would gladly do that except that it tells me it can't install it because another program is being installed. I have tried to work through some solutions with that but no success. When I try to uninstall my current JAVA program it tells me another program is being installed and to wait until that installation is complete. Of course, no other program is being installed. It also tells me "The installer cannot proceed with the current internet connection settings". It's one big frustrating circle. I can't install updates and can't uninstall that current JAVA program like the JAVA support tells me to do.
Any suggestions from anyone? I would appreciated any help you can give.
Update: I have since had a support technician with Live Person.com help me with this problem.
The tech had me completely uninstall my Norton 360 Premier. Then she went in and deleted any traces of it. After that she was able to install the latest JAVA update and now the animated maps work. The problem is solved for now except I don't dare re-install the Norton program :(

I tried this and Java started working in the administrator mode. I also found that when you close administrator mode and reopen Java from desktop you get a prompt asking to run Java runtime enviroment v7 update 25 If you don't allow Java will run if you allow Java stops working again.
This is a work around not a solution Microsoft get busy fix your problem My computer is only three months old but I see this problem has been kicking around for many months.
