why java is not working in internet explorer 10 windows 8?

Java is not working on my computer. It is new computer with windows 8 and internet explorer 10. I downloaded Java and using explorer from desktop.

But every time I go on line and website requires Java I get same error message "ClassNotFoundExeption". Same error I get if I go to Java website and hit Test Java button. I tried different things that were suggested on Java.com and Microsoft.com but nothing worked. I have newest Java and did not have any problems downloading it. I appreciate any suggestions.

Was the original issue ever resolved?  I still can't get Java to work and I've tried all of the above except setting up a new user account which didn't make sense.  Using Windows 8 - 64 bit, Java 32 bit and I've installed and uninstalled multiple times on the desktop.  The site I'm accessing works fine on my Windows 7 laptop and I have all the same settings in Java on both laptops.

When browsing in the Win8 App IE you can click on the Tool icon in the bottom right corner and select View on Desktop.

    It worked for me too - I've been trying to fix this issue for weeks. I normally dismiss advice such as reset all the options as I think I know better (being a software developer in a previous life) but I don't!

    OK, here is what i have discovered in reference to Java being correctly installed but not working with windows 8 and all browsers.  Right click on the start menu at bottom left of screen.  This will bring up a menu with control panel.  Once control panel is open change to large icons.  Then you will see an icon for java.  under the security tab make sure that you have a check mark next to enable java for all browsers checked.  After checking this I had no issues and problem seemed to be resolved without having to elevate to administrative privileges by using run as administrator option.  Hope this simple fix works for the rest of those as this seems to not be mentioned.  There are two Java Control Panels that I have found one by doing a search only shows certificates under security tab.  The one in the actual windows control panel is what you need and has the option to enable java in all browsers

    This did not work for me but permit me to describe a  workaround which did in case this helps anyone else.  Let me firstly say its still totally unsatisfactory and someone, whether it be MS, Oracle or whoever needs to get this sorted out......

    Secondly it might be coincidence - I have been running W8 64bit Home Pro since day one and this error (I believe) started after the April 2013 "patch tuesday" updates.

    My workaround:

    1. With NO browser windows open start Java Control Panel as described elsewhere and UNCHECK the "enable Java Content in Browser" button under the security tab - press APPLY and leave this window open.
    2. NOW start your browser session and visit your jave-enabled site (in my case playandwin).  When you get the message about getting more information etc cancel/ignore it.
    3. Return to the Java Control Panel and CHECK the "enable Java Content in Browser" button and press APPLY again.  IGNORE all messages relating to restarting the browser.
    4. Refresh the browser window (F5 etc) and all should be fine and your Java-based content should work fine.

    In steps 2, 3 and 4 above you will get informational messages - just click OK or whatever.  Also messages inviting you to enable Java helper etc - same.

    I am using the very latest Java 1.7.21.

    Seems like as soon as you close the browser window the problem returns so this is an "every time" fix - hence a workaround NOT a solution

    Hi,

    I started Internet Explorer as administrator and allowed it to make changes to my computer.

    Then I could verify at java.com that Java was installed and working.

    Next time I opened Internet Explorer it asked for allwing Java to make changes on my computer.

    If I answerd yes to this Java stopped to work again, and if answering No I got the question every time I used Internet Explorer.

    But I found a way to not have to run Internet Explorer as administrator or anwer no to the change-question over and over again:

    I started Internet Explorer as administrator and let it change my computer, then opened java.com to verify that Java worked.

    Then I disabled the Java SSV helper plugins in Internet Explorer (since I found out that is those which makes the changes - and destroys Java on my computer).

    After that I can open Internet Explorer as a regular user with working Java and no dialogs asking for permissions to change the computer.

    Hope this might help in your case.
