Java is not working on my computer. It is new computer with windows 8 and internet explorer 10. I downloaded Java and using explorer from desktop.
But every time I go on line and website requires Java I get same error message "ClassNotFoundExeption". Same error I get if I go to Java website and hit Test Java button. I tried different things that were suggested on Java.com and Microsoft.com but nothing worked. I have newest Java and did not have any problems downloading it. I appreciate any suggestions.

Was the original issue ever resolved? I still can't get Java to work and I've tried all of the above except setting up a new user account which didn't make sense. Using Windows 8 - 64 bit, Java 32 bit and I've installed and uninstalled multiple times on the desktop. The site I'm accessing works fine on my Windows 7 laptop and I have all the same settings in Java on both laptops.
When browsing in the Win8 App IE you can click on the Tool icon in the bottom right corner and select View on Desktop.

I've tried the same fixes and some others and Java still doesn't work on a site that uses java for weather camera animation. Yet it works fine on my computer with Windows 7 just fine! It's the curse of Windows 8!!
How do you "run Java from desktop"? I am already on a site and when somthing like animation of a weathere map comes along that requires Java, it won't work. How do I run Java from the desktop when I am already on a site?
I have the same problems with Java and IE 10. I have read the whole discussion above, tried everyting numerous times, and Java does still not function with IE 10 desktop.
Tech specs:
* Win 8 64-bit & IE 10
* Java 7.11
However, I did get IE 10 desktop version to function with java when I installed the latest Java 7.11 32-bit version. Then I was stupid enough to also download the 64-bit version of 7.11, and then IE 10 stopped working with Java! Naturally, I then uninstalled the 64-bit version of Java again, but the damage was done. IE 10 desktop did not start to function with Java again.
Of course, in this case there is also the possibility that the Win 8 program uninstaller doesn't remove Java 64-bit entirely, and that there remain some 64-bit javacode somewhere massing things up.
Anyway, I suspect that IE 10 is badly programmed concerning Javasupport. The setup is rather complicated. You have a 32-bit application (IE 10) in a 64-bit OS, which is supposed to support Java in desktop mode, but not in Modern UI mode. And MS hasn't really figured out how to do this. Having both a 32 and a 64 bit version of Java probably doesn't help.
This really sucks and it's really annoying that MS refuses to admit any problems. Well, there are other browsers. I have switched to Chrome, which works fine.
