why java is not working in internet explorer 10 windows 8?

Java is not working on my computer. It is new computer with windows 8 and internet explorer 10. I downloaded Java and using explorer from desktop.

But every time I go on line and website requires Java I get same error message "ClassNotFoundExeption". Same error I get if I go to Java website and hit Test Java button. I tried different things that were suggested on Java.com and Microsoft.com but nothing worked. I have newest Java and did not have any problems downloading it. I appreciate any suggestions.

Was the original issue ever resolved?  I still can't get Java to work and I've tried all of the above except setting up a new user account which didn't make sense.  Using Windows 8 - 64 bit, Java 32 bit and I've installed and uninstalled multiple times on the desktop.  The site I'm accessing works fine on my Windows 7 laptop and I have all the same settings in Java on both laptops.

When browsing in the Win8 App IE you can click on the Tool icon in the bottom right corner and select View on Desktop.

    Thanks Lars, This did get it so I can use JAVA for the animated weather cameras I monitor.  However, like Jan says I have to open it as administrator every time.  I was able to go to the C:\Program Files(x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe and pin it to my start menu so I can just right click on it there and run as administrator.  JAVA seems to work fine that way but it won't work when I open IE 10 by just double clicking on the icon.  Thanks again.

    Hi Lars Christian, thanks for the advice.

    I've tried your suggestion and what happens is as follows:

    When I start IE 10 after doing what you suggest I get a windows box asking if I want to allow Windows to make changes on my computer. Obviously I select "Yes". When I then try to use Java in IE 10 it works fine.

    ... at least until I close IE 10...

    The next time I start IE 10 and try to use Java with IE 10 I get a Windows box asking if I want to allow Java to make changes on my computer?! Whether I say yes or no, Java don't function.

    It is somewhat cumbersome to look up C:\Program Files(x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe and "start as administrator" every time I start IE 10 to get it to work with Java.

    By the way, I have the latest Java installed version 7.17.

    Hi All,

    Try start the internet explorer 10 as administrator

    File Browser to

    C:\Program Files(x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

    right click and select start as administrator
